He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on April 11, 1928, to the late Harry and Margaret (Langwith) Steiner. Keith was a third generation Hawaii resident. He attended Punahou School, graduating in 1946. Keith obtained a bachelor's degree from Yale University, then went on to study law at Stanford University, where he obtained his L.L.B. in 1953. He returned to Honolulu, where he served for two years in the U.S. Army during which time he passed the bar in 1954. He then began to practice law initially for Carlsmith & Carlsmith, then as a partner first at Hughes, Steiner & Rolfing, and then at Padgett, Greeley, Marumoto & Steiner. In 1974, he began a solo career as a general legal practitioner. He retired from the practice of law in 2000. During his legal career, Keith was elected as a delegate to the 1968 Constitutional Convention, and in 1968 was appointed as a per diem district magistrate of the Honolulu District Court, the same court his father served on as a Judge for 37 years. He was active in the Republican Party from 1956 until his retirement. He served on the board and\/or as president of a number of different non-profits, including the Honolulu Theater for Youth, the Institute for Human Services, and the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Foundation. He was an active member of the Outrigger Canoe Club, the Pacific Club, and the Oahu Country Club. He was an avid collector of Hawaiian Postcards, particularly those published by his Grandfather, James Steiner. In 2001, he wrote and published \"Hawaii's Territorial Days Viewed From Vintage Postcards by Island Curios\". He was also a dedicated stamp collector, and his collection of Hawaiian Numeral stamps was regarded as one of the most complete of its kind and awarded gold medals when exhibited. Keith was a dedicated family man, and taught his children how to surf, set lobster and gill nets, cook pancakes, sail and ski. He and his wife Polly truly travelled the world together, visiting all seven continents, and hosted their children and grandchildren on innumerable precious family trips. Keith is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Pauline (Hager) Steiner; his children: K. James Steiner, Jr. and his wife Jeri, Jonathan H. Steiner and his wife Kelly and Susan M.
