PON CHANG Pon Chang passed peacefully on July 6, 2015 at the age of 103. Born in Canton, China, Pon immigrated with his parents to Hawaii in 1920. Graduating from McKinley High School, he worked at Hawaiian Pine where he met his wife of 70 years, Patricia Fung Chin Lau. Pon worked for Dole Corporation and for the City & County of Honolulu. Pon was a devoted family man, not only to his wife, children and grandchildren, but to his extended family both in Hawaii and in China. Pon also enjoyed traveling around the world, but one of his favorite sayings was: “There’s no place like home.” Pon is survived by his wife, Patricia Lau Chang, four children – Lindley, Kenneth (Haroldwyn), Steven (Joanne) and Patti, brothers Vernon Chang (Betty) and Walter Y.M. Chang (Wilma), sister Alice Lee, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
