Celebrating the area and its beauty, Windward Community College and Kaneohe Business Group will present their Windward Hoolaulea from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 6 at the college.<\/p>\n

The 12th annual event, \u201cA Homegrown Celebration,\u201d will have music, displays, activities, food, crafts and keiki games on the Great Lawn and around the campus. Cultural demonstrations include Hawaiian fiber arts, poi pounding, lei making, woodcarving and nose flute making. There also will be an introduction to laau lapa\u2018au (Hawaiian medicinal herbs).<\/p>\n

The entertainment lineup of local groups includes Kahaluu Ukulele Band at 10:15 a.m., Pila Nahenahe at 11:15, Le Jardin Jazz Band at 12:15 p.m., Rich Padrina\u2019s Halau Hula O Napunaheleonapua at 1:15, Na Kupuna O Koolau at 2:15, Aaron Mahi, Martin Pahinui and George Ku at 3:15, Chinky Mahoe\u2019s Halau Hula O Kawaili\u2018ula at 4:15 p.m., Broadway@Paliku at 5:15 p.m., Teresa Bright at 6:15 and John Cruz at 7:15 p.m.<\/p>\n

The free event also highlights WCC\u2019s 40th anniversary and the opening of the Library Learning Commons. Proceeds from the hoolaulea will go to WCC programs and student scholarships.
