Hawaii Pacific University will award $250 for the best poem submitted to the 2012 James M. Vaughan Award for Poetry competition.<\/p>\n
Deadline is Dec. 15, and the award will be presented next March on HPU’s Windward campus during the annual Koolau Writing Workshops. Fame also is involved, as the winner will have his or her work featured in HPU’s literary magazine, Hawaii Pacific Review<\/I>. The poet also will be asked to share it in HPU classes during spring semester.<\/p>\n
Submit up to three typed poems of 100-line maximum each – not attached to the cover page, which should provide titles, five-line biography, name, address, phone and email. Mail to James M. Vaughan Award for Poetry, 1060 Bishop St. #LB 7A, Honolulu Hi 96813.<\/p>\n
This year’s judge, Adele Ne Jame, is an award-winning poet herself and has published two books on poetry. She is an assistant English professor at HPU. The award itself is named after an HPU alumnus who established the prize fund.<\/p>\n
