It’s that time again: Kaneohe Kiwanis Club is polishing up the spatulas for its 52nd annual pancake-flipping day – also known as Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast – set for 6 to 11 a.m. Sunday at Ben Parker Elementary cafeteria.<\/p>\n
“It’s a major fundraiser for the club,” said president Neil Yamamoto, “and it’s an all-you-can-eat feast of pancakes, eggs, Portuguese sausage, rice and hot and cold beverages.”<\/p>\n
While serving as a fun way to start Mother’s Day morning, he noted, the breakfast also supports a great cause.<\/p>\n
The local Kiwanis have ongoing community projects, including a partnership with Kaneohe Community Family Center, and leadership clubs at Castle and McKinley high schools, King Intermediate and Kaneohe Elementary schools.<\/p>\n
“The kids really benefit from the breakfast as well,” added member Joshua Chang, who advises the McKinley Key Club.<\/p>\n
“The proceeds help to support them and help them grow as leaders in their community.”<\/p>\n
