Hawaii Pacific University outfielder Chante Tesoro has been named to the All-Region Team by Daktronics and the National Fastpitch Coaching Association (NFCA). A Kaneohe resident and former Hawaii Baptist Academy standout, Tesoro landed on the NFCA’s First Team and Daktronics’ Second Team.<\/p>\n
She was chosen as a First Team All-PacWest selection this spring following a tremendous season that saw her bat .442 with 49 runs, 16 doubles, four triples, and 25 RBI. She had an on-base percentage of .516 and won the PacWest batting title in addition to finishing first in on-base percentage and walks. Additionally, Tesoro ranked second in runs, second in doubles, fifth in hits (72), fifth in triples, eighth in total bases (96), and eighth in slugging percentage (.589).<\/p>\n
Tesoro was joined by teammate Keila Elderts, who was a First Team pick by both NFCA and Daktronics. Elderts also made the PacWest Second Team and is ranked among the best in the league in several categories. She hit .428 with 48 runs, eight doubles, five triples, 26 RBI, and 21 stolen bases. The sophomore from Temecula, Calif., ranked second in the PacWest in triples, fourth in average, fourth in on-base percentage (.484), fifth in runs scored, sixth in hits (71), and she was in the top 15 in six other categories.<\/p>\n
Elderts was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team last month as well. The NFCA All-Region Team is voted upon by the region’s head coaches.<\/p>\n
The Daktronics team is decided by the region’s sports information directors. She now will be placed on the Daktronics All-American ballot, while Tesoro will be on the NFCA’s ballot.<\/p>\n
OIA announces All-Conference softball teams<\/B><\/p>\n
Windward schools were well-represented on the OIA All-Star teams. Kailua, which finished 9-5 overall this spring, had three players make the its First Team, led by senior outfielder Lindsey Farley. Farley was joined by junior third baseman Leilani Lastimosa and freshman Moani Kupahu. Senior Shaydon Apela made the Second Team as a second baseman. Receiving Honorable Mention were Robi Lono, Teah Kauhi, Georgienne Murray and Delcie Williams.<\/p>\n
Sophomore second baseman Darrien Dacosin was named to the Red Conference First Team from Castle, which finished 5-8 overall this spring. The Knights also placed a trio of players on the Second Team, including Jaznie Lolo-Tamashiro (first baseman), Jade Rodgers (out-field) and Alana Igafo (out-field).<\/p>\n
