Where and with whom did you see the movie?<\/strong><\/p>\n Watched the movie at Consolidated Theaters at Pearlridge with my best pal Ikaika Hollinger.<\/p>\nngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\n Overall, what did you think?<\/strong><\/p>\n I think the timing of this movie’s release was so bizarre for us here in Hawaii with the threat of hurricanes Iselle and Julio moving toward the state.<\/p>\n It serves as a good reminder of the power Mother Nature possesses. It is a movie, so a lot was exaggerated, but I enjoyed the balance between heavy drama and quirky comedy.<\/p>\n Without giving away the ending, what was one of your favorite scenes?<\/strong><\/p>\n The scene where flames intertwine with a twister, creating a massive, whirling fire column.<\/p>\n It was unreal to see something terribly destructive and beautiful at the same time.<\/p>\n On a scale of one to four stars, what would you rate this film? <\/strong><\/p>\n \u2605\u2605 3\/4.<\/p>\n What did you think of the cinematography?<\/strong><\/p>\n We were on the edge of our seats for a good part of the movie. I thought the cinematography was put together well. Some of the special effects seemed so real.<\/p>\n Was the message\/theme clear?<\/strong><\/p>\n The message of never underestimating Mother Nature’s strength comes through. Hawaii just experienced Tropical Storm Iselle and saw the damage it whipped up on Hawaii island and Maui.<\/p>\n It also made me think back to the deadly EF5 tornado in Moore, Okla., last year, where teachers used their bodies to shield students from falling debris.<\/p>\n Did it remind you of any other works of film?<\/strong><\/p>\n It sort of reminded me of the movie Twister, but this one is a little more serious.<\/p>\n To whom would you recommend this movie?<\/strong><\/p>\n I would recommend this to everyone because weather impacts us all — also, special effects buffs.<\/p>\n Did any of the actors stand out?<\/strong><\/p>\n Always supporting local! Actress Sarah Wayne Callies, raised right here in the islands, Punahou grad, did a great job in the film.<\/p>\n Did you identify with any of the characters?<\/strong><\/p>\n I could relate to Sarah’s character. She plays a meteorologist and keeps her cool while tracking storms for her crew. When I’m in the middle of storm coverage, the newsroom can be hectic! Reporters, producers and our viewers turn to our weather team for answers and explanations about the storm’s track.<\/p>\n There’s a lot of pressure at times, because lives could be on the line, but it comes with the job. You relay information minute-to-minute to keep the public safe, and it’s important to stay calm.<\/p>\n Did the soundtrack contribute significantly to the film?<\/strong><\/p>\n I’m all about movie soundtracks, especially the dramatic ones! This one went well with the film.<\/p>\n Would you buy this movie when it comes out on DVD?<\/strong><\/p>\n In my opinion, a movie like this is best seen in a theater.<\/p>\n What’s your favorite movie snack?<\/strong><\/p>\n Popcorn and kakimochi (heavy on the kakimochi).<\/p>\n On a different note, what’s new with you?<\/strong><\/p>\n I’m enjoying working alongside some of the most experienced journalists in Hawaii. Working with news veterans is inspirational, it forces you to constantly up your game.<\/p>\n What’s nice is there’s a real sense of team inside the KITV4 newsroom.
