Thanks to a golf tournament at Waikele Country Club hosted by Finance Factors, Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii now has $20,000 more to fund its programs. Finance Factors held its 2014 Finance Factors Family of Companies Golf Tournament Aug. 28 at Waikele Golf Club — the proceeds of which benefitted Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii.<\/p>\n

With almost 50 teams and more than 100 participants, the tournament was able to raise $20,000 for the organization.<\/p>\n

“On behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii and the over 1,400 ‘Bigs’ and ‘Littles’ we serve, I would like to express our deepest gratitude to Finance Factors for their generous and meaningful support,” said Dennis Brown, BBBS president and chief executive officer.<\/p>\n

“These funds will not only have a huge impact on our operations statewide, but also will enable us to continue providing Hawaii’s keiki with personal relationships that improve their lives for the better.”<\/p>\n

BBBS Hawaii provides one-on-one mentoring to at-risk youths statewide. The nonprofit aims to help children become successful adults and ultimately strengthen communities. Through BBBS, children are paired with adults, who serve as role models and mentors.<\/p>\n

Locally, the organization has been active since 1963. Brown, who has been CEO\/president of BBBS Hawaii since 1998, was the “little brother” in the state’s first BBBS match.<\/p>\n

In addition to the generous donation, more than 25 Finance Factors employees volunteered to put on the event.<\/p>\n

“Finance Factors is proud to support Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii as our beneficiary for this year’s charity golf tournament,” said Steven Teruya, president and chief operating officer of Finance Factors. “As a kamaaina company founded by local island families, giving back is a key focus year-round for the Finance Factors Family of Companies.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
