Hawaii Red Cross is looking for heroes — and it needs everyone’s help to find them.<\/p>\n

The humanitarian organization is seeking nominations for its annual list of local heroes by Dec. 1.<\/p>\n

Qualified heroes must have prevented human suffering, aided disaster victims, saved a life, or assisted military service members and their families in Hawaii after July 1, 2013.<\/p>\n

Hawaii Red Cross then recognizes individuals in one of five categories — Lifesaver Hero, Military Hero, In the Line of Duty Hero, Youth Hero and Animal Hero — at a special breakfast.<\/p>\n

Last year’s honorees included Animal Hero Bailey Miyamoto, a golden retriever who comforts patients at Tripler through the hospital’s Human Animal Bond program.<\/p>\n

In addition, HPD officers Wade Tamarra and Shayne Sesoko were honored as In the Line of Duty Heroes for saving the life of a Waipahu man whose house caught fire.<\/p>\n
