If you live in the Pearl City area, you’d better be ready for mother-daughter team Yumi Laney and Christina Laney Wycheck to come to your home for their seventh annual door-to-door food drive.<\/p>\n

Luckily, they make donating food really easy. The pair drops donation bags off directly at people’s homes — and then comes back a week later to pick them all up for you.<\/p>\n

Pick-up times are from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. this Saturday and Nov. 15. All food goes to Hawaii Foodbank.<\/p>\n

“Our family needed assistance from the food bank a long time ago, and this has been a rewarding way for my friends, family and clients to help give back,” explained Laney Wycheck who, along with her mother, is a real estate agent at List Sotheby’s (formerly known as Kahala Associates). “Everyone enjoys themselves, and my goal is to get more of our Pearl City community involved each year.”<\/p>\n

Last year, the women collected 2,333 pounds of food. This year, they’re aiming higher than ever by targeting 1,000 homes. (The most they have done previously is 700 homes.)<\/p>\n

Don’t live in the target area and still want to help? Good news: “We welcome volunteers and anyone wanting to donate canned goods, regardless of where they live,” Laney Wycheck said. Volunteers are needed on both Nov. 8 and 15.<\/p>\n

Partners and supporters this year include City Councilman Breene Harimoto, Hawaii Self Storage, Waipio’s Outback Steakhouse, Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii’s Young Professionals Program, Pearl City High School and SOS Preschool.<\/p>\n
