In the world of prep football, there is always the season within the season – the critical games that make or break a team’s year.<\/p>\n
For Leilehua and Mililani, the 2012 season started recently with two weeks of spring practices. Next up, they’ll participate in 7-on-7 passing leagues until the official beginning of fall camp next month.<\/p>\n
With the release of the OIA 2012 schedule, a breakdown of both schools’ respective slates follows. (Division II Waialua’s schedule will come in a later issue.)<\/p>\n
Leilehua Mules<\/B><\/p>\n
2011 record: 10-2-1 overall, 6-0 in OIA Red West<\/p>\n
2012 schedule: Service High School Aug. 10, at Kamehameha Aug. 17-18, Mililani (Aug. 31-Sept. 1), Aiea (Sept. 7-8), at Kapolei (Sept. 14-15), at Campbell (Sept. 21-22), Waipahu (Sept. 28-29) and at Waianae (Oct. 5-6)<\/p>\n
Schedule breakdown: Drawing rival Mililani at home can only be a good thing. Also, the Mules’ bye week comes a week before a brutal stretch of four games in a row that begins with the Trojans. The notso-good-news is a road slate that may be the most demanding in the state.<\/p>\n
Key stretch: Mililani, Aiea, at Kapolei, at Campbell<\/p>\n

Mililani Trojans<\/B><\/p>\n
2011 record: 4-6 overall, 2-4 in OIA Red West<\/p>\n
2012 schedule: Pac-5 (Aug. 17-18), Waianae (Aug. 24-25), at Leilehua (Aug. 31-Sept. 1), at Campbell (Sept. 7-8), open (Sept. 14-15), Kapolei (Sept. 21-22), at Aiea (Sept. 28-29), at Waipahu (Oct. 5-6) Schedule breakdown: The Trojans won’t have to visit two of the tougher venues in the Red West this fall as they draw both Waianae and Kapolei at home. However, Mililani they play four Red West road games this fall, with only the two aforementioned dates at home.<\/p>\n
