\nSECTION 106 OF THE NATIONAL HISTORIC PRESERVATION ACT OF 1966

\nNATIONAL HISTORIC PRESERVATION ACT SECTION 106
\nPROGRAMMATIC AGREEMENT FOR MINOR HAWAI’I HISTORIC BRIDGE
\nPROJECTS STATEWIDE
\nNotice is hereby given that the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and
\nState of Hawaii Department of Transportation, Highways Division (HDOT)
\npropose to develop a statewide Programmatic Agreement for Minor Hawai’i
\nHistoric Bridge Projects. This proposed project is a federal funded HDOT
\nproject. It will consider projects where the effects on historic properties are
\nsimilar and repetitive (800.14 (b) (1) (i), as defined by Section 106 of the
\nNational Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966, as amended (2006).
\nThe State of Hawai’i has approximately 400 highway bridges that have
\nbeen deemed eligible or potentially eligible for the National Register of
\nHistoric Places. The Minor Hawai’i Historic Bridge Projects PA is intended
\nto streamline implementation, review, and reporting for individual bridge
\nprojects that will not affect, are not likely to affect, or have minor effects on
\nhistoric properties, consistent with the requirements of Section 106 of the
\nNHPA, and the implementing regulations in 36 C.F.R. Part 800. The PA will
\nnot address major bridge rehabilitation or replacement projects.
