<\/font>NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Hawaii Public Housing Authority (HPHA) in accordance with regulations outlined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the HPHA’s Federal Public Housing Admissions and Continued Occupancy Policy (ACOP), will temporarily reopen the waiting list for low-income applicants for the federal public housing program on Oahu. The first one thousand (1,000) applications will be accepted for each waiting list.<\/p>\n

The geographical waiting lists for Federal public housing that will be opened include: <\/p>\n

<\/font> Honolulu, Oahu<\/b><\/font> <\/font>(Ka’ahumanu Homes, Kalakaua Homes, Kalihi Valley Homes, Kamehameha Homes, Kuhio Homes, Mayor Wright Homes, Palolo Valley Homes, Punchbowl Homes, Pu’uwai Momi, Salt Lake Apartments, Spencer House, Kalanihuia, Makamae, Makua Ali’i, Paoakalani, and Pumehana).<\/p>\n

<\/i><\/font> Leeward, Oahu<\/b><\/font> <\/font>(Hale Laulima, Kau’iokalani, Maili I & II, Nanakuli Homes, Waimaha-Sunflower, and Waipahu I & II)<\/p>\n

<\/font> Honolulu Elderly <\/b><\/font>(62 yrs. and older or a person with a disability):
\n Studios (1 person) <\/p>\n

<\/font> Honolulu Family<\/b><\/font>: 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, 3-bedroom and 4-bedroom units<\/p>\n

The online application portal will be open for five (5) days starting on Monday, August 8, 2022, at 8:00 a.m. and closing on Friday, August 12, 2022, at
\n4:30 p.m. for the Oahu Honolulu Federal public housing waitlist.<\/p>\n

<\/font>August 22, 2022 – August 26, 2022<\/p>\n

<\/b><\/u><\/font>The HPHA will open the waiting list and accept online applications from eligible applicants who meet the following bedroom sizes:<\/p>\n

<\/font> Leeward Family<\/b><\/font>: 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom units <\/p>\n

The online application portal will be open for five (5) days starting on Monday, August 22, 2022, at 8:00 a.m. and closing on Friday, August 26, 2022, at
\n4:30 p.m. for the Oahu Leeward Federal public housing waitlist.<\/p>\n

<\/font>August 29, 2022 – September 2, 2022<\/p>\n

<\/b><\/u><\/font>The HPHA will open the waiting list and accept online applications from eligible applicants who meet the following bedroom sizes:<\/p>\n

<\/font> Windward Family<\/b><\/font>: 2-bedroom units<\/p>\n

The online application portal will be open for five (5) days starting on Monday, August 29, 2022, at 8:00 a.m. and closing on Friday, September 2, 2022,
\nat 4:30 p.m. for the Oahu Windward Federal public housing waitlist.<\/p>\n

<\/font>How do I submit an application?<\/b><\/font> Applications can only be submitted online. Devices such as mobile phones and tablets with Internet access may be used; however, not all operating systems support this application. No applications will be accepted at the Housing Authority’s office. <\/p>\n

1. Be prepared by having the <\/font>names, dates of birth, and social security numbers<\/b><\/font> available for all persons who will be listed on your application. You will need to know the <\/font>monthly gross income<\/b><\/font> (before taxes) for each source of income for all persons listed on your application. You must list all the sources of income individually.<\/p>\n

2. Complete the application on-line at <\/font>hphaishereforyou.org<\/b><\/font> by clicking on “<\/font>Apply Online Here<\/b><\/font>“.<\/p>\n

3. Applications submitted before or after the waiting list opening period will be automatically rejected and not accepted by the HPHA. Applications not fully completed (i.e., in the middle of submission) prior to the closing will be rejected. If your application is submitted after the 1,000 applications limit, your application will be rejected.<\/p>\n

4. <\/font>Print your receipt, take a picture of, or write down your Application Confirmation Number.<\/b><\/font> A confirmation receipt is issued immediately after the application is submitted. Print and save this confirmation. <\/p>\n

<\/font>Applicants can only apply for one waiting list. Additionally, no duplicate applications will be accepted.<\/b><\/font> Any duplicate applications with same or similar household members will have both applications denied. Prior to adding any households to the waiting list, the HPHA will conduct extensive crosschecks to remove duplicate applications. Submitting a duplicate application will not improve your chances of being selected and can significantly delay housing for other applicants.<\/p>\n

<\/font>Does submitting an application mean I’m on the wait list?<\/b><\/font> Following the closing of the waitlist, HPHA will assign a position number by date and time of application and be placed on the applicable area waitlist. Unless rejected due to reasons listed above.<\/p>\n

The public is reminded that there is <\/font>no charge to apply<\/b><\/font>. Applicants are encouraged to immediately report any individual or organization who attempts to charge a fee for completion of the HPHA’s application process. Applicants should not respond to any fraudulent requests for an application fee.<\/p>\n

Organizations that may be able to assist with the application process are Parents and Children Together (PACT), We are Oceania, Helping Hands Hawaii, Honolulu Community Action Program (HCAP), and Aloha United Way.<\/p>\n
