\nKUHIO HIGHWAY INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS
\nAT KOLO ROAD AND KALAMANIA ROAD
\nAHUPUAA OF NAMAHANA, DISTRICT OF KOOLAU, ISLAND OF KAUAI
\nFEDERAL-AID PROJECT NUMBER: STP-056-1(065)
\nTAX MAP KEYS: (4) 5-2-013:999 and (4) 5-2-019:999
\nNotice is hereby given that the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and State of Hawaii
\nDepartment of Transportation, Highways Division (HDOT) propose highway improvements.
\nThis federally federal funded HDOT project is considered a federal action and undertaking, as
\ndefined by Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966, as amended
\n(2006).
\nThe proposed work includes the construction of a new one-lane roundabout at the Kuhio
\nhighway, Kolo road, and Kalamania road intersection to alleviate the ingress/egress concerns of
\nthe area residents. Sidewalk, curb ramp and grading and drainage improvements will also be
\nrequired. The project area is approximately 4.63 acres and the proposed work will be
\nconstructed within the existing HDOT and County right-of-way.
\nPursuant to Section 106 of the NHPA, Native Hawaiian Organizations and Native Hawaiian
\ndescendants with ancestral, lineal or cultural ties to, cultural and historical property knowledge
\nof and/or concerns for, and cultural or religious attachment to the proposed project area are
\nrequested to contact HDOT. Other individuals and organizations with demonstrated legal,
\neconomic or historic preservation interest in the undertaking are asked to contact HDOT and
\nshare information you may have on historical and cultural sites that you may have knowledge of
\nwithin the proposed APE. We welcome any information within 30 days of notice.
